Upper Hutt Veterinary Hospital is located in Trentham and we welcome pets and pet parents from the Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt and the greater Wellington region.

Established in 1982, Upper Hutt Veterinary Hospital was the first vet clinic in the Upper Hutt area. We pride ourselves on making your pet part of the family whilst in our care. Our full range of modern services and facilities are designed to diagnose and treat your pet with as little stress, invasion or upset as possible. We offer a range of services including annual health checks and vaccinations, minor and major surgeries, desexing, dentistry, microchipping, and more. Having our own range of cutting-edge diagnostic tools such as ultrasound, digital x-ray, endoscopy, electronic blood pressure monitoring and comprehensive laboratory we can significantly reduce your pets time away from you, diagnose and then treat effectively and swiftly. At all times our patient’s comfort and well being is the first consideration, that’s why we have separate cat and dog wards in our hospital to make it as stress free as possible for your beloved pet. We also have cat boarding facilities to look after your precious fur family whilst you are away. We would like to welcome you and your pets to meet our team at anytime.

Something else that sets us apart from the norm is our focus on you and your pet, today, tomorrow and long into the future. That’s why we provide extra services such as our Golden Oldie Care (Senior Pet Program), Pet Plunket and Dietary Nutrition Clinics.

Meet our team
Dr Raewyn
Lead Vet
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science

I am passionate about making the clinic a happy and fear free environment for pets, owners and the staff alike. I have completed Fear Free certification level 2 and am studying for level 3.

The best things I like about being a vet is seeing and being a part of the human - animal bond, and I also enjoy doing surgeries as I can make a difference to the pets quality of life.

At home I enjoy my pets, most of them rescues, cats, dogs, rabbits, chinchillas, horses, and goats. It is a bit of a Noah's ark here. When I am not with them I like to try to keep fit.

I’ve been working at this practice for the past 15 years, so a number of you will have met me. My focus is on cat and dog medicine, an area that has grown exponentially in the past 20-30 years. There is always more to learn!

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, running with my Boxer, Maddie, and reading with my cat, Harry. When time and weather permit, I go tramping with my friends. My coldest tramp has been the Milford Track, the highest, Kilimanjaro, and the most dangerous in the Tararua Range.
